North Central England DDP Study Day with Kim Golding, Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Reflections on DDP. Exploring Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Parenting and Practice

Date: 6th November 2025 | Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm GMT

Run by
Kim Golding

Please join us for a day of exploring DDP with Kim Golding and colleagues from across the North of England and the Midlands.

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) was developed by Dan Hughes. DDP is a therapeutic approach to help children and adolescents who have experienced developmental trauma, many of whom are or have lived in the care of the local authority.

During this Study Day Kim will explore the DDP practice model, which has evolved beyond a psychotherapy, providing interventions which can help mental health, social care, and education practitioners. This will include providing DDP interventions with the children, DDP informed parenting and parenting support and providing DDP informed support in schools.

We will consider the principles central to DDP interventions and how these can inform the support we offer. Central to these will be cultivating the attitude of PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy). This exploration will include reflecting on cultural variations in the attitude of PACE.

Throughout the day we will reflect together with the help of recordings and dialogues.

As an extra treat Kim will also read some of the stories which will feature in her forthcoming book: ‘The DDP Guide to Healing Children’s Trauma. A visual and creative companion for parents and practitioners.’

This is due to be published in January 2026.

Kim is looking forward to a full and stimulating day of exploration with you.
