SUMMARY:North Central England DDP Study Day with Kim Golding\, Barnsley\, South Yorkshire
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a day of exploring DDP with Kim Golding and colleagues from across the North of England and the Midlands. \nDyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) was developed by Dan Hughes. DDP is a therapeutic approach to help children and adolescents who have experienced developmental trauma\, many of whom are or have lived in the care of the local authority. \nDuring this Study Day Kim will explore the DDP practice model\, which has evolved beyond a psychotherapy\, providing interventions which can help mental health\, social care\, and education practitioners. This will include providing DDP interventions with the children\, DDP informed parenting and parenting support and providing DDP informed support in schools. \nWe will consider the principles central to DDP interventions and how these can inform the support we offer. Central to these will be cultivating the attitude of PACE (playfulness\, acceptance\, curiosity\, and empathy). This exploration will include reflecting on cultural variations in the attitude of PACE. \nThroughout the day we will reflect together with the help of recordings and dialogues. \n\nAs an extra treat Kim will also read some of the stories which will feature in her forthcoming book: ‘The DDP Guide to Healing Children’s Trauma. A visual and creative companion for parents and practitioners.’ \nThis is due to be published in January 2026. \n\nKim is looking forward to a full and stimulating day of exploration with you. \nKim Golding CBE \nKim Golding is a Clinical Psychologist living in Worcestershire\, UK. She has over 30 years experience working within the NHS with children and families\, and now works independently providing therapy\, training\, consultation and supervision. \nKim is a certified DDP Trainer and is involved in accrediting and training other professionals in DDP. She is also a director of our Community Interest Company\, DDP Connects UK.  Kim is author of a range of books focused on the parenting of children who have experienced developmental trauma\, including ‘Nurturing Attachments’ and ‘Everyday parenting with security and love’. She has additionally developed two DDP-informed programmes. ‘The Nurturing Attachments Training Resource’; and ‘Foundations for Attachment Training Resource’. Kim co-authored: ‘Healing Relational Trauma with Attachment-Focused Interventions’ with Dan Hughes and Julie Hudson\, published December 2018 and ‘The Healing Relational Trauma Workbook‘ with Dan Hughes published February 2024. \nIn 2020 Kim was awarded a CBE for services to children and young people. \nPlaces are limited. To book your place please visit the DDP Connects UK website or email Izzy at izzy@ddpnetwork.org. \nRegistration starts at 9:30am. Tea\, coffee and lunch will be provided.
